Mahomed Bassyouni

Mohamed Bassyouni is a Global Program Leader on the Program and Portfolio Management team. He leads the product development team for the M72/AS01E TB vaccine candidate, driving the strategic execution of its late-stage development.

Mohamed joined Gates MRI in 2020 to lead the operations team supporting the COVID Therapeutics program. In that role he proudly led the operations for its first intervention and successfully conducted the first “100% remote” trial. Prior to joining Gates MRI, Mohamed was the Director and Project Delivery Lead for GSK based in Maryland, responsible for executing the Clinical Development Plan and Global Epidemiology Plan for GSK’s maternal RSV vaccine candidate in the run-up to a global Phase 3 vaccine efficacy trial. Mohamed spent more than 16 years with GSK in a variety of clinical operations and medical roles based in Africa, Asia, and North America. Mohamed’s passion for global health inspired him to join Gates MRI as a new challenge. He grew up in Cairo, Egypt and knows the burden of TB first-hand. Mohamed obtained his B.Sc. degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Cairo University in 2003.
