Caitlin Ciavarro
Head of Clinical Development Operations
As Head of Development Operations at the Gates MRI, Caitlin Ciavarro leads the integrated functions of clinical operations, pharmacovigilance operations, medical writing, data management and biostatistics—ensuring timely, high‑quality delivery of development programs that support the Institute’s mission to bring new drug and vaccine candidates to underserved global‑health populations.
Caitlin brings more than 20 years of clinical development experience, with deep expertise in global clinical operations management, operational strategy and cross‑functional leadership. Prior to joining the Gates MRI in 2018, she served at Sanofi Genzyme as a Project Leader overseeing clinical and scientific operations for programs in multiple sclerosis and rare diseases, including oversight of clinical, medical writing and biostatistics functions. She also held senior clinical operations roles at GSK Vaccines and Novartis Vaccines, managing pivotal global Phase III trials and governance of large clinical portfolios. Caitlin began her career in clinical research at Novartis Pharmaceuticals as a Clinical Research Associate and at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center as a Study Coordinator, gaining applied experience in trial coordination and monitoring across a wide range of therapeutic areas.
Caitlin holds an MBA in Global Management from Boston College and a BA in Political Science from Rutgers University.
