Orhan Karsligil

As the Head of Information Technology (IT), Orhan Karsligil, Ph.D., leads enterprise-wide technology strategy and operations, overseeing R&D and G&A infrastructure, applications, and cybersecurity, while strengthening institute’s clinical development and GxP capabilities.

Orhan brings over 25 years of experience in applying robust project management and solution development skills to compliance driven Information and Technology implementations. Most recently Orhan served as VP of Information, Technology and Risk at Mersana Therapeutics, where he built G&A and R&D infrastructure for the company’s evolution from preclinical to precommercial stage. At Fujifilm Pharmaceutical USA as VP of Information Technology, he developed IT systems supporting DoD projects for Ebola and Marburg diseases.

Earlier, as CIO at MediVector, he managed enterprise IT and led development of proprietary EDC and Safety Database solutions for global pandemic influenza trials while overseeing Data Management and Biostatistics. His 12-year IT consulting career focused on software development and ERP implementations for higher education, during which he simultaneously served as a Research Scholar at MIT’s Bioinformatics and Metabolic Engineering Lab, working on computational drug development with antimicrobial peptides.

Orhan holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Process Design and Control. He completed his undergraduate studies in Chemical Engineering at Bogazici University in Istanbul, Turkey.
